TPMS Sensor Service
Check the tire pressure and the warning behavior first. A low-pressure alert and a monitoring-system fault require different responses.
Vehicles with direct tire pressure monitoring carry a sensor in each wheel that reports pressure to the dash; indirect systems estimate pressure from wheel-speed data instead and have no tire-mounted sensor to service. For direct-TPMS vehicles, service covers diagnosis of a stubborn warning, sensor replacement where needed, and proper registration to the vehicle.
Signs that bring vehicles in
- A tire pressure light that will not clear despite correct pressures
- One tire reporting as missing or dashed on the display
- A warning after tire replacement or rotation elsewhere
- Sensor batteries past their typical service life
What the visit involves
- Review of actual tire pressure, warning behavior and missing readings
- Identification of the monitoring design and applicable sensor or system fault
- Sensor replacement, registration or reset scope explained where required
Diagnosis before authorization
A request does not guarantee a specific diagnosis, price or completion time. The shop confirms the appointment, explains findings and obtains authorization before repair work moves forward.
Common questions
Does a TPMS warning mean a sensor is bad?
Not always. It may be correctly reporting low pressure. The tires and pressure readings should be checked before assuming an electronic fault, especially if the warning appeared with a change in driving feel.
Does every vehicle have a pressure sensor inside each wheel?
No. Direct systems use individual pressure sensors, while indirect systems use other vehicle data. The design determines whether sensor replacement or a different reset or diagnostic procedure applies.
