A/C Recharge
A recharge replaces refrigerant; it does not repair a leak. Start by describing how the cooling performance changed.
An A/C recharge restores the specified refrigerant charge when that service is appropriate. Refrigerant type and quantity depend on the vehicle, and weak cooling can also involve airflow, controls or a compressor fault.
NOFO reviews the symptoms before recommending recharge or diagnostic work. If refrigerant has escaped, the source matters: adding refrigerant alone does not repair a leaking component. Mention previous recharges and any products added to the system when requesting service.
Signs that bring vehicles in
- Air that is cool but no longer cold
- The compressor cycles on and off rapidly
- Cooling improved after a recharge, then faded again
- Oily residue around fittings or lines
What the visit involves
- Review of cooling performance and previous refrigerant service
- Confirmation of the vehicle’s refrigerant requirements and suitable service scope
- Discussion of leak findings or other faults that need separate repair
Diagnosis before authorization
A request does not guarantee a specific diagnosis, price or completion time. The shop confirms the appointment, explains findings and obtains authorization before repair work moves forward.
Common questions
How often should an A/C system need recharging?
There is no universal annual recharge requirement. Reduced cooling needs assessment, especially if refrigerant was added recently. Repeated recharges can leave an unresolved leak or another fault unaddressed.
Should I mention a refrigerant or sealer product I added?
Yes. Tell the shop what was added and when, even if cooling improved temporarily. That information can affect how the system is evaluated and which service is appropriate.
