ABS Diagnosis

An ABS warning starts a system diagnosis. A code can point toward a wheel or circuit without proving which component has failed.

The anti-lock braking system depends on wheel-speed sensors, wiring and hydraulic controls working together. An ABS light usually means the system has stored information about where to look—NOFO reads that evidence first rather than replacing parts speculatively.

Signs that bring vehicles in

  • An ABS or traction-control warning light
  • Wheels lock under hard braking when they should not
  • The brake pedal pulses on dry roads during gentle stops
  • Speedometer or cruise behavior that misbehaves with the warning

What the visit involves

  • Review of the warning, stored ABS information and when the concern occurs
  • Checks of relevant wheel-speed signals, wiring and associated components
  • Explanation of the fault and repair options before parts are authorized

Diagnosis before authorization

A request does not guarantee a specific diagnosis, price or completion time. The shop confirms the appointment, explains findings and obtains authorization before repair work moves forward.

Common questions

Is an ABS light the same as a brake-system warning?

They can indicate different conditions. Tell us the exact symbols and whether pedal feel or stopping ability has changed. Reduced braking or a sinking pedal needs immediate attention; do not assume it is only an electronic warning.

Why can an ABS fault also turn on traction control?

These systems can share wheel-speed information. A problem with that information can affect more than one function. Testing the signals and related components helps avoid replacing a sensor solely because several lights appeared.
